MacOS Ventura removed hide login items at startup, any updates?

I've seen some discussions from a few months back and no one likes that the Ventura update no longer lets users set apps to launch hidden at startup, so we get a bunch of windows we don't want to see in order to run the apps we need to. I've seen some rumors that "Apple will fix this" but nothing substantial or recent.

I'm hesitant to edit the .plist file using Terminal as has been suggested as the only workaround. Anyone have news or suggestions about restoring this functionality?
