Inaccurate/miscalculated selection of text on iPhone

I have been noticing within the past month or so, when I double click text I wish to select in Messages, Notes, or Safari, it selects partial words ("there" would be "ere") and when I go to correct it, the starting cursor of the blue highlight moves further down the sentence/paragraph (to select the text proceeding it.) Like a ghost writer. This is difficult to explain, but I hope this makes sense. I can't find any info on it. It's also at random, but consistent within that particular text/web page/project.

(My phone is up to date, is kept clean, and has a screen protector on it. I removed it to test without it: no difference.)

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Open to suggestions! :) Thank you

Have you tried this trackpad technique? Change Keyboard as Trackpad to move insertion point (Cursor).

Press and Hold the spacebar and move your fingers!
