Notification Sound after unlocking phone

When I receive a message, my iPhone notifies me. Then it notifies me again when I unlock the phone. Freaking annoying, how do I stop this?

phone notifications alerts only work now and then must reboot iphone to make sounds work again How to correct problem with sound notifications alerts. They work for a couple of hours but then stop. Must reboot iphone to correct the problem. This happens every day.

If you turn off Notification Center alerts for Messages in your notification settings, this will happen. Enable it to fix the issue
