iphone charger

Why would the cable to my iphone charger melt? Its the stock cable/adaptor that came with my phone and barely a year old! It completely melted through the external coating in the MIDDLE of the cable... no where near the connection points. The inner cable was completely exposed, I'm lucky that nothing else was damage or caught on fire!

13 Pro Max Cable Burnt'Melted from near the phone end on the very 1st use. I switched from 12 pro max to 13 pro max. Activated the phone and transfered all the data to 13 pro max. The phone had around 25% battery by then, took out the cable and put it into charging for the 1st time after buying it (Keeping in mind it was a box packed phone). After some time I started observing some burn't or melted plastic smell from the phone. When tried to Unplugged the phone, the cord was almost melted near the phone end and was so hot that I feared that I might break the cable and burn my hand so I just took the adapter out of socket to cool it down. Surprisingly the adapter wasn't overheated at all, neither the cable was near the adapter end. After a while I took out the cable from phone, it was still pretty much warm. I never had this issue with 12 Pro Max, the charging speed was great. Charged 13 pro max with the same adapter and the cable that came with the box of 13 pro max. My phone got to 70% charging, haven't charged it since then. What shall I do next?

iPhone Cable connector becomes super hot to touch Hello, I have an iPhone cable, it's looking a bit old, as the white cover around the iPhone connector has slowly slipped down, when I insert it into my iPhone it really becomes super hot to touch. I wasn't sure at first whether I was receiving an electric shock or a heat burn. How long are the charging cables supposed to last, and are they meant to stop working in such a way, particularly after the basic support period has expired for the iPhone ? I am concerned about causing a fire by continuing to use it to charge my iPhone (XR), if a Fire did arise would Apple be liable - given their safety proclamations is there a way that they will replace it for free ? Any thoughts ?

what ever it was connected to is a hazard then, 5volt is nowhere enough to melt plastic, maybe your ac charger is leaking 110/240volt AC into the cable if so then any cable would melt
