Ventura keeps switching Keyboard Input Source to top keyboard

Hi

I have two keyboards, which I want to keep, but most of the time I want to use my Irish keyboard but sometimes use the British. The problem is, for no apparent reason, the keyboard keeps reverting back to British and if I don't spot it, I'm the accents are incorrect when typing.

How do I stop the keyboards from switching until I change them myself?

Thanks

Chris

Aha, interesting! Here is a copy of the Irish keyboard which is tagged as "en" instead of "ga". I wonder if that might fool the simulator, if that is helpful.

(I spent a couple years in Dublin long ago, tried to learn Gaeilge without much success, still have all the books I bought, a fascinating language)

Take a look at the options for switching input sources. You may want to disable the keyboard shortcuts, like Shift-Control-space, or the fn or "world" key, which you may inadvertently press.

System Settings->Keyboard, press Keyboard Shortcuts..., then select Input Sources.

I personally like these, but you may want to turn them off:

Also, in the main window of Keyboard Settings, there is this (it may say Globe key or something instead of fn key).

If the option selected in the popup is "Change Input Source", change it to something else:

Thanks very much for the detailed and quick response Luis. I don't believe this is the cause of the problem as I was aware of these keystrokes and wouldn't often use or the control key, so I don't think I'm pressing the combination accidentally.

I'm going to turn the shortcuts OFF for now to see if it persists and if it doesn't, I'll know you were correct.

Thanks Again

Hi Tom. Yes, that's exactly the problem. I actually only keep the British keyboard for iOS development. The simulator switches languages to Gaeilge (Irish Gaelic) when the Irish keyboard is selected, which doesn't give a true representation of the user experience... unless they're from an Irish speaking part of Ireland of course :-D

I've tried various combinations of deleting and re-installing with no luck. Author's suggestion above didn't resolved the issue, unfortunately, so I have resigned to removing the British keyboard until it's needed.

Thank you Tom and Author for taking the time to respond.
