why is my phone still saying “sos only”?

my iphone says “sos only” at the rope acting like i have no service at all. i have tried to renew my data on my iphone but it never came through. i have powered my phone off and back on, force restarted it, taken the sim card out and put it back in, and nothing has worked. i can’t text other iphones even when i’m on wifi. it’s been like this for 16 hours. why is this happening and how can i fix it?

Try to do a force restart -> Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

 

If it doesn't help, remove and reinsert the SIM card.

If it doesn't help visit your carrier, maybe the SIM card is damaged, ask for a replaced (new) card. Normally it is free.

Ask also to check if the SIM tray is bent, as even a tiny misalignment can cause the SIM card to not fully connect with the internal contacts in your iPhone.
