Not able to delete my Apple ID

I have an Apple ID I want to delete but I do not have the ability to login anymore. This stems from the issue of not being able to login because the account was made before Two-factor authentication. I no longer have the answers to my security questions because they were made when I was a child. So I can not reset them. Apple please update this issue or delete my Apple ID.

Thanks,

Justin

That is not possible. Due to apple not allowing older accounts without access security question answers, I can not gain access again. I have been on multiple support calls and it just comes down to me guessing answers to those questions. I am putting this post here so apple will either update their security question policy or delete my apple id. There will be no link to an apple support page that will fix this issue.

Just so things are straight, you can delete Apple IDs permanently. See: How to delete your Apple ID account - Apple Support

However, since you were using security questions which Apple abandoned several years ago, and apparently forgot the answers, you are not able to prove to Apple you are indeed to owner of the account and cannot request it be deleted.

Limnos is correct.

I think most people only want to delete their AppleIDs when they no longer have access to it, however, which does make it impossible. This is in place for security reasons. If you didn't need access to an AppleID to delete it, then anyone's account could be deleted without warning. This would be catastrophic to Apple's clientele.

It's similar to why you cannot add multiple AppleIDs to one account. It would be a security nightmare.

Hi Limnos,

Yes it is possible to delete your account, but only if you have access to it. They can not delete it on their end remotely. I apologize if I did not make that clear. I do not have answers to security questions that were made when i was 7 years old. And I cannot upgrade to two-factor authentication because i can not reset my security questions because you have to answer them first. Even if you can provide credit card, id, password, birthday, and SSN to prove you own the account. That is where the flaw lies. This is something I would like to fixed in time as I have seen many users with issues of not being able to reset security questions with no resolution.

Hi SixFour391,

Totally understand. More or less the issue has to do with security questions preventing a deletion of the account. Even with provided credit card, id, password, birthday, and SSN on file to prove you own the account. In most Government and Financial Institutions that would be sufficient to prove ownership of any account. Technically I do have access to all valid information on the account. Two factor authentication would just be a phone number or email with an associated device. Which can be even less secure versus these older security question reset restrictions. There could even be an option to go in-person or provide that information physically so they can validate the owner of account in store. A case sensitive security question a fourth grader can provide should not be the limiter of an aged account is my only gripe. I am hoping to see an update on this restriction going forward to older aged accounts so they do not lose all purchases made with them.
