Can’t add watch SE to Find My

The first thing I find in all the instructions is “go to settings on your watch and tap your name.”

My name is not there. I’m in the right place. I’ve restarted the watch. It’s up to date. The first three items are Notifications, General, Focus. No name.

I found one other person who had this problem and they had to factory-reset their watch. Do I really need to do that?

Thanks for any help.

It seems your Watch is not signed into your Apple ID account.

If your watch is in the iPhone Watch app, My Watch tab then go to All Watches, Tap on the (i) then unpair it.

Then set it up again.

If you are unable to find it in Watch app then erase it then set it up again...

Put your watch on its charger and keep it there until you complete these steps. (select the watch OS version)

Erase Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

Erasing all content and settings this way erases all media, data, and settings from your Apple Watch, but it does not remove Activation Lock if it has one. However if it is not in your Find My then it seems not to be locked anyway.

Wait for the process to finish, then set up your Apple Watch again. Set up your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

When asked, decide to set up as new..
