Gulp, all points to Hard Drive corruption or failing.
You can try Disk Utility's Disk First Aid, but doubtful on that working.
Hopefully you have good backups.
You can use Drive DX to possibly get a better view of Drive health…

Thank you for your message, I do have Drive DX, and I checked all my Disks, all appear to be fine, except one (the internal one, which I substituted about two years ago with a new one) for Load Cycle Count being 1,454,365 !

Oh, it did seem to indicate your boot drive.
then the only solution would be be to change the HD ?
