Group/SharePlay Improvement for Fitness+ on a single Apple TV

Hi! Just this afternoon, I submitted application improvement feedback for Fitness+ on Apple TV — specifically for Group/SharePlay functionality.

The example scenario I gave was, say my wife and I wanted to utilize our living room Apple TV to do a joint meditation session. And let's just say that both of our Apple ID profiles, along with all of our devices are saved and known to the Apple TV, and we have Family Sharing so that both of us have the Fitness+ subscription.

My feedback is to implement support for group fitness+ sessions so that either our health metrics are both mapped on-screen so we can both interact together without the need for crazy FaceTime workarounds on separate devices, or at the very least — give support to map health metrics and session activity to the other participants' Apple health app. Perhaps a supported SharePlay option that would allow for multiple Apple Watches to connect to Fitness+ if in proximity to the Apple TV? Just a better way to interface with it in a joint session.

Is there anything I'm missing? The workarounds that I've seen so far are not seamless, and with the SharePlay feature already getting it halfway there, it would be nice if we could get functionality for this type of scenario, as I imagine there is a growing audience of partners and couples who would love to do this together without complexity.

If anyone has had a similar thought, or if I'm missing pieces to this puzzle please feel free to comment as I would love to learn more about available workarounds or just discuss additional thoughts on the functionality.

Hi Brandon_James,

Doesn't appear that you've missed anything about this feature. Regarding using Apple Fitness+ with others, you'll need to use it with SharePlay. If needed, you can find those details in the article here: Use SharePlay with Apple Fitness+ on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV

The information below from the guide page here can also help: Work out together using SharePlay - Apple Support

"Join a Group Workout on Apple TV

You can join a Group Workout using SharePlay on Apple TV.

Note: SharePlay controls appear only when a user is signed in with the same Apple ID on both Apple TV and FaceTime on an iPhone or iPad. To switch users on Apple TV, press and hold the TV button on the Siri Remote to open Control Center, then select or add a new user.

  1. Start a FaceTime call on an iPhone or iPad.

Apple TV detects when a FaceTime call is in progress, and a SharePlay indicator appears in the upper-right corner of the Home Screen on Apple TV.

2.Open the Fitness app on Apple TV, then do either of the following:

    • Start a workout, then select SharePlay when prompted and confirm on your iPhone or iPad.
    • Press and hold the TV button on the Siri Remote to open Control Center, select the SharePlay button, select Join, then confirm on your iPhone or iPad.

3.If you haven’t already, browse to a workout in Fitness, then start it.

The workout plays in sync on Apple TV and on all the devices on the FaceTime call. Everyone can use playback controls on their respective devices to play or pause in real time.
