Zoom function not working in Apple Mail

The command + function for zooming in Apple Mail does not work. This has been a standard short cut for 30 years. Checked in the system settings to see if the Zoom was toggled off. In the settings, there is an Option Command 8 function to turn Zoom on. This also does not work.

Where is default zoom in/out capability in Mail App? If I just want to zoom email contents then I can use cmd and +/- to do that. My complaint is that I have to do it every time I read an email. The mail app should persist zoom settings. Recommended behavior: Every time a new email is being viewed the last zoom settings should be used to render the email contents. Therefore, the email content automatically gets zoomed-in/out when viewed and the user does not have to zoom-in/out manually each time an email is viewed. pinch zoom in outlook for Mac not working when reading an email in either preview or full view 2 finger pinch zoom to increase the size of the text to more easily read the email does not work. I am new to Mac and rely on outlook for work. I am able to zoom in on outlook for windows but not Mac. I can use control + to zoom in and control - to zoom out but 2 finger pinch on the track pad does not work. It works in other apps like safari but not outlook for Mac. Am I missing something?

Mail app - zoom level of incoming mails there are several answers to questions tackling the problem of micro-sized text in mail app on high resolution displays. most of them provide non-working solution like increasing the default font size - wich is obviously missing the point. the second "prominent" suggestion - to use system zoom via system settings / accessibility misses the point even more since the questions are about how to change the "zoom-level" of an open mail. almost every other app provides a way to zoom in ... e.g. via two-finger gesture on the track pad. so I'm asking once again: is there a way to use a zoom-like functionality that works in a way the two-finger gesture does ?! and if not: why not ??????????

It sounds like you are having some trouble using the Zoom feature. We can help.

The Zoom feature is not exclusive to Mail. Once turned on it should work with any open window, but you do need to make sure it is turned on first:

Click > System Settings... > Accessibility > Zoom > Use Keyboard Shortcuts to Zoom > Toggle On.
