Physical SIM to eSIM - will I lose contact information?

iPhone SE is being updated from physical SIM to eSIM to join a new carrier network. Will I lose my previous contacts if I change to the eSIM? Previous contacts have not been backed up in iCloud.

If your contacts are on your physical SIM card, you will lose them if you remove the SIM card. You can import your SIM contacts to the iPhone and synchronize with iCloud afterwards.

Once your Contacts are imported, enable Contacts in iCloud here:

SettingsApple IDiCloud → enable Contacts.
