Not able to add card to Apple Wallet in India

Hi, I am using IPhone in India where Apple Pay is not supported. Hence I am not able to add my Credit Card to the Apple Wallet. I will be visiting the US soon and want to activate Apple Pay and add my card. I want to use Apple Pay for any payments in US. Can I do that once I land in the US?
