Hi vancesherlock,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you'd like to use the same Apple ID for your devices and download different content on each device.

When you use the same Apple ID on different devices, you have access to the same content on each device signed in with that Apple ID. If you'd like to keep your devices separate, we'd suggest using a different Apple ID on each device. You can learn more about the services associated with your Apple ID here: Manage and use your Apple ID - Apple Support

"Sign in with your Apple ID

Use the same Apple ID and password every time you're asked to sign in to an Apple device or service. If you don't have an Apple ID, learn how to create a new Apple ID. You can use your Apple ID to:

  • Automatically set up all of your Apple services when you set up a new device and sign in with your Apple ID.
  • Keep your personal content up to date on all of your devices with iCloud.
  • Sign in to the iTunes Store, Books Store, and App Store to make purchases and access previous purchases.
  • Sign in to Messages and FaceTime1 to talk and text with friends and family.
  • Sign in to third-party apps and websites with Sign in with Apple.

See a list of other features and services that use your Apple ID. "

If you choose to use different Apple ID's for each device, you can set up Family Sharing so that you can still share content between devices. Check this out: What is Family Sharing? - Apple Support

"Share Apple subscriptions

Whether it’s music, TV and movies, news, games, or fitness, Apple subscriptions have something for everyone. And with iCloud+, you can share storage and features like iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and HomeKit Secure Video support with your family.

When you use Family Sharing, your whole family can share access to the same Apple subscriptions. With Apple One, you can bundle everything together for one low monthly price. You can also share some other subscriptions that you sign up for in apps from the App Store.

Share purchases from the App Store and more

When you set up purchase sharing, everyone in the family gets access to the apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books that family members buy. The content automatically appears on the Purchased page in the App Store, iTunes Store, Apple Books, or Apple TV app. Some items can't be shared.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
