All of a sudden I don’t hear any sound when one of my contacts iMessage me. Everything is switched on and I have gone through some of the suggestions on this site. Can anyone help.

Without knowing what you've already done, the following may or may not help: open the Messages app and on the main screen (where all contacts' messages are listed), slide the message from that contact to the left. If the bell icon doesn't have a slash (line) through it, tap the bell icon so that it does. That turns notifications for that contact back on.
