2.4ghz wireless mouse thru a dongle works and Trackpad too. I want only mouse.

I don't think my mouse is registering on my Air M1. but it still works fine. but the thumb keeps bumping the trackpad and moving my cursor without me knowing it. Driving me crazy. tried disabling trackpad but it looks gray like it IS disabled. Help! it isn't a apple mouse. it is a 2.4ghz optical mouse using a dongle.
