Unable to search in Calendar App

Why won't Calendar now search for events in the past? Have read various threads on here over the the last year of this being a known glitch in the OS which has been going on for many months with no clear solution. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253998974?login=true

One user says Apple Support confirmed it's in their Developer issues log marked as unsolved! This is a basic search functionality that was possible on databases in the 1990's!!

We have two new M2 Mac Minis - running latest Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68). Both having the same issues - especially searching a shared iCloud calendar (but interestingly not always with external subscribed calendars...).

We shouldn't be having to re-install OS or doing clever things with roots or re-indexing in spotlight - THIS IS BASIC FUNCTIONALITY!! - and Apple should be very embarrassed by this. I'm all for looking to the future but sometimes you do need to search the past...
