Copy/paste not working in Books with iOS 16.3.1 on iPad

This was happening also in 16.3.0.

When I select text, the only options I get are Highlight | Add Note | Search. Never do I get Copy, Look Up, etc. Copy works just fine in Notes, Kindle, B&N Nook, Firefox, Outlook, and any other app I've tested. Only Books has this issue.

I've rebooted multiple times and done a simple hard reset, with no change in this behavior.

Any ideas?

Problem with selecting multiple paragraphs of text in apple books app to add notes or highlight text (iPadOS 18.3) When reading many ePub books in the Apple Book app, the ability to select multiple paragraphs at once to take notes or highlight them has disappeared. I noticed that after the update, you can now select one paragraph, but if you drag the selection further, it disappears (if you drag up, a zoom may appear, if down, nothing). At the same time, if you return the selection to the first paragraph without releasing your finger, the selection within this paragraph remains. This problem is observed both on the iPad mini 7 and the iPad Pro 11 M1. Both devices have been updated to iPadOS 18.3. I tried to open the same book on the iPad Pro 11 2018, which still has iPadOS 17.6, and there is no such problem. Everything work fine. Also, there is no such problem on the iPhone 14 Pro and MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro. I can highlight several paragraphs at once and there are no such problems. Please note that the problem does not affect all books, but a fairly large number of those that I tested. There was no such problem before. Notes and highlights disappearing from the Books app I'm using books to read PDFs, highlight texts and make notes. Then, after making dozens of notes on marked texts, all the notes disappear like they were never there. Sometimes even the highlight marks disappear. Extremely frustrating to loose all the work and ideas!!! I never experienced such a bugged out system as the Apple's latest iOS. Anyone having similar experiences and how to make sure that Apple fixes this?

How can I select text in Books Highlighting and copying lines in Books. I can’t select any text in recently purchased Apple books. I like to do that to take notes. Also sometimes I want to look up definitions of single words by selecting them. I no longer can select text in Books.
