Dead pixels on latest iMAC 24 inch

Hello, so i wanted to share my experience with Apple customer service. I

purchased the latest imac 24 inch on june-2021... my biggest purchase

to date on a Apple device. And last week i noticed along the top border of the retina display a

blurred whitish line-shadow crossing from left to right, at first i

thought it was mold growing inside of my unit. So i decided to schedule

an appointment at Best Buy (an authorized apple service provider) where

they run every test that Apple requires to conclude that it didnt have

water/humidity inside the unit... the technician at Best Buy shared his

opinion that it appears to be a factory display defect and that i should

contact Apple to see if it could be resolved/fixed since the 1 yr

warranty was over and i didnt purchase the extended warranty. I called

Apple right away and spent 2 hours explaining my case; i spoke to a

"supervisor" name Johnathan which had no explanation for the blurred

mold-looking line on my iMac and referred my case to a "engineer", i

called Apple the following day to follow-up and spent another 2 hours

speaking to "Johnnie" explaining my case; who told me he though it could

be an adhesion problem of the display; meaning the glue was coming off

and that he was "elevating" my case to a "engineer" and will contact me

for the conclusion/answer of my case. I received "Johnnie"'s call today

with the conclusion that it was "normal/cosmetic" wear... I'm beyond

annoyed. Has anyone noticed this on the

latest imac? thanks for reading, i added pictures

You’re welcome.

The iMac outer glass and display panels have been fussed together from 2012 on. FWIW Apple does not make the displays, they source them from a display manufacturer.

In this case, I think your best bet is to get a second opinion from the other Apple retailer in your area and then be polite but persistent with Apple Support.

Thanks for your response, i didnt get the AppCare sadly. Im in Puerto Rico and i purchased the iMAC through apple.com directly. They have Best Buy and a store Modernica as the only authorized apple service providers since there isnt a physical Apple Store here. Im hopeful im not the only one experiencing this issue, it seems is an internal display issue. I've been searching and i just read that the first iMAC monitors were shipped crooked/tilted to one side, who knows if that affects the weight that could make the display detach internally? is just crazy how they manufactured a new design-display for this model (glass is fused together with the retina display) and im experiencing the outcome. I will measure mine once i pick it up at best buy... But I will keep searching. thanks

Hi thanks for your response, that was my initial thought too... thinking it was an easy fix by cleaning the glass but i was informed at Best Buy i would have to replace the whole display since the glass is fused to the retina display and there is no access to clean it. I believe it will get worse, im not sure if the pixels are damaged they just look blurred when i turn the computer on.
