HP 8710 will not print on new Macbook Air M1

I just bought a Macbook Air M1 for one of my family members. I have an HP 8710 AIO printer. All the macs and PCs I have are able to print to the 8710. But the new Macbook Air can't print. I have tried everything:

  • reset the printer queue
  • Uninstall then re-install the HP Smart App
  • The the above two bullets using WIFI interface on the 8710
  • Setup printer queue on another Mac Mini. Then tried to print. Does not work.
  • Print from WIFI. Does not work.
  • Over ethernet. I can't get the new Macbook Air M2, installed.

I give up. Is this supposed to work. Or is there another bug/patch coming real soon?

Suggestions are welcome. But I have tried everything I can think of to fix the mac.

Hey there rh10023,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

If having issues with printing from your MacBook Air, give the steps listed in the following resource a try that can help with with this specific issue: Solve printing problems on Mac - Apple Support

If the issue persists after going through the steps above, you can also try resetting the printing system which can help with resolving some unexpected issues. For steps on how to reset the printing system, check out this next link here: Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem - Apple Support

If you’ve tried all possible solutions and you still can’t print to your printer, reset the printing system. This process deletes all printers from your list of printers, deletes information about all completed print jobs, and deletes all printer presets.

Important: First, try other troubleshooting techniques in Solve printing problems.
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Control-click the printer in the Printers list on the right, then choose Reset Printing System.
3. Note: If no printers appear in the Printers list, you can Control-click the empty list and choose Reset Printing System.
4. After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners settings is empty.
5. Re-add any printers.

If still unable to print from your MacBook Air to your HP printer, the next best option would be to reach out to HP's support who may be able to provide some additional information or troubleshooting steps. You can reach out to HP's support here: HP Printer Support

We hope that's able to help.

Best regards.

Chris_V89, you are obviously a bot. Or you are someone that just copies and paste stuff just to get your response numbers higher. You are just repeating all of the things I have already tried. How about this? Can you give me instructions on how to verify the wireless card on the Macbook Air M1 is working properly? I believe the problem is with the Macbook Air M1 that I have just purchased. I have another Macbook Air M1 that connects to the 8710 just fine. I have a Macbook Pro M1 that connects to the 8710 just fine. I have a Macbook Air 2014 that connects to the 8710 just fine.

So took a look at Console.app. Here is the error that I am seeing with cups-exec.

Error Formulating Crash Report:

_dyld_process_info_create failed with 1

dyld_process_snapshot_create_for_process failed with 1

Failed to create CSSymbolicatorRef - corpse still valid ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thread_get_state(PAGEIN) returned 0x10000003: (ipc/send) invalid destination port

thread_get_state(FLAVOR) returned 0x10000003: (ipc/send) invalid destination port

So there is a config file that is messed up. Is this possible?

Yep I had setup two new accounts. With both accounts I am unable to connect to the printer. With this new MBA M1 I had used the migration tool to bring the data and account from an 2012 MBA to this new MacBook Air. The one thing that came over is this Cricut Maker app that appears on the menu bar. I am trying to figure out how to uninstall it. This is my suspicion on my problems. Any suggestion on how I can remove it?
