That is possible as they have some way to fool may about the McAfee Antivirus or the False Need for any type of Anti Virus Software.

Below is only for Information Purposes OK 😀 !

There are no known Windows-like Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS, because of the underling UNIX  Foundation and Permission Limitation.

Additionally, in macOS 11 Big Sur, macOS 12 Monterey and macOS 13 Ventura.

The Operating System resides in a Sealed and Read Only Volume that can not be opened by the User nor by Third Party Applications.

The only Entity that can open and modify or alter this Volume is Apple.

That would occur when a update or UpGrade is performed.

The Only thing this Antivirus software is protecting is the Bank Account of the Developers and for zero return to the User aside from the problems this software creates.

AntiVirus Developers purposefully Market their product to create a “ Fear Factor “. In so doing, creating a False Need for their Product.

Seeing many of these lately and Specific to McAfee

Some clever Site Developer has found some way to Target the Notification aspect in Safari and has deployed this on some web Sites

Suggest the user check in Safari >> Setting >> Websites tab >> Scroll down to " Notifications "

Is the offending Web Site Enabled for Notification and associated with McAfee

Welcome

Not really sure what the user is understanding regarding Notification.

In above image this Notification was from Within the Safari Application

If the User is referring to System Setting >> Notifications that is unrelated to the Scam of McAfee

thank you. In the screen you are indicating, there is one with the logo of the notifications of the system of my Mac. I unticked it and I continue to receive the notifications of the system as usual but the scam seemed to be stopped. I also ran a scan with Malwarebytes and the system doesn't seem to be infected.

yes the notification was from within the safari application. The notifications I blocked showed with the logo of system notifications (the grey image with a cog). This did not influence the real system notifications but it stopped the notifications from "MacAfee"
