Watch doesn't detect if I go back to bed

I have a Watch Ultra and I have the fllowing problem:

  • Sleep time period is setup from 11PM to 8AM
  • If I get up in the middle of the night (i.e. if I go to badroom at 3AM) and go back to bed, it detects OK the wake up period and logs the rest of the sleep.
  • but if I get up near the end of my sleep cycle (i.e. go to badrom at 6AM or 7AM) and go back to bed, it doesn't detect it at all!

This happens to me often (wake up 1-2 hours before time to go bathroom or feed the cats or stuff like that) , so it is mildly annoying to not get 1-2 hours of sleep logged almost daily.

Anyone have an idea if there is some setup I can do to try to improve this? Or is this a limitation of Apple's sleep algorithm? Given it doesn't detect naps either I suspect is probably the later, but doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks for reading.

If you haven't, please check for a software update and make sure that you are running the latest version of iOS and watchOS.

While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest software version for your devices can help isolate potential software issues.

Kindly secure a backup and update.
