Apple Watch SE 2 - water resistance

I've just bought an Apple Watch SE 2, and I have read that it's water resistant to 50m, but I also see that it has a water lock. I am reading contradictory advice as to whether I need to set the water lock before showering or swimming - or whether the watch is already water resistant and I don't need to set the water lock?

I am used to having a water resistant watch and so don't think I'll remember to turn on the water lock!

Thanks for your advice.

Hello! You don’t have to turn on the water mode before the activity. It is already water resistant. This function just locks the screen, so it doesn’t interact with water and after turning it off, the watch will play a sound that helps to eject the water from the speaker. Just for the ejection, you can turn it on after the swim and then off. Have a great day!
