how to find TRIM status

I'm on Mac Studio M1, Ventura 13.2.1

What is the Terminal command to display TRIM status?

Also, any advice about whether Disabling TRIM actually helps prolong the life of my SSD?

No. Not recommended to disable... I would leave the default on your Mac Studio M1,

TRIM will prolong life.

Trim is enabled by default example Intel MBP

leroydouglas is right. TRIM will extend the life of the NVMe and/or SSD.

When a file system deletes a file, the NVMe/SSD does NOT know that this storage is available, for reuse, so the storage controller will keep giving out blocks from its spares. Eventually the storage controller will be reusing the same blocks over and over again, which will quickly reduce the life of the blocks being written.

TRIM is a way for the file system to tell the storage controller that the storage for a just deleted file is available for re-use. So the storage controller has a much large pool of free blocks to give out for each write, spreading the writes across a larger pool of blocks so it is less likely to excessively write to just a few blocks wearing them out.

You ALWAYS want TRIM enabled.
