Keyboard shortcuts on iPad/Magic Keyboard

I have created a handful of utility shortcuts (volume up/down, play, etc) in the shorcuts app and then setup keyboard sequences via Accessibility->Keyboard->Full Keyboard Access->Commands. While the shortcuts work great, there are several side effects with some of the apps. I’ve found a couple different threads on the different issues I’m running into where the space/tab key do strange things in apps and where the app sections are highlighted. These threads identified turning of Full Keyboard Access as the solution.

I’ve went through all of the assigned commands and clear the all, the issues persist. The only way I’ve been able to work around the issues is to disable Full Keyboard Access.

Is there a different way to setup keyboard shortcuts to trigger app shortcuts I’ve created? Or other fixes that would allow me to keep Full Keyboard Access enabled?

In theory you should be able to customize those commands to avoid the problems, but I think some apps still need updating to play correctly with it, so that only turning off FCA will do the trick. It might be worth complaining to the app authors about it. Are there Apple apps where space bar for example is still messed up if you clear the command for that?

The easiest to reproduce is issues with the tab key. With FCA on the tab key doesn’t work in apps like messages or notes. Note that I have disabled all commands in FCA except two (globe-9 and globe-0). When I use either of these shortcuts they trigger the appropriate shortcuts, but they also highlight/make active different regions of the active app with a blue ring, which then creates some different issues that I can’t fully reproduce. This seems to happens in both apple and non-apple apps. Hope that makes sense.
