SmarTrip - move from virtual (Apple Wallet) to physical card

Is there any way to transfer a virtual SmarTrip card FROM AppleWallet TO a physical (plastic) SmarTrip card? All the discussions here are about the opposite (transferring plastic card to Apple Wallet), but I want to do the reverse. I inadvertently transferred a plastic card to my kid's iPhone Apple Wallet, but now want to get it back to a plastic card. The original plastic card was permanently deactivated when it was transferred to my kid's iPhone. I removed it from my kid's Apple Wallet, but I've been unable to figure out a way to get it back onto a plastic card. WMATA told me I could do this in my online WMATA account by treating the (removed) virtual SmarTrip card as "lost/stolen". But when I try that, it won't let me transfer it to a "replacement" card (a new plastic card) that I just added to my account. Help!
