I appreciate most of the comments here, but have not been able to solve this problem. I have turned off do not disturb & still have dim date & time. I read one post that sounded hopeful however, specifically I cannot find SYSTEM PREFERENCES on my iPhone.
I have an iPhone 12 and I’m running 16.3.1. Since the latest upgrade on my home screen, the date and time are so dim I can barely see them.
I do not have do not disturb on. I’ve turned it off and on I do not have dark mode on. I have tried using the brightness setting and none of this has worked. How can I brighten both of the time and date on my home screen?

I miss spoke before. It is my Lock Screen that is showing dim. Everything else is fine.
Hi 181270. I cannot quite understand your question. First of all, which iPhone do you have and what is its iOS? If you are looking to change the brightness of your iPhone’s display, you will want to select Settings > Display & Brightness. From there, you can adjust the brightness manually or choose to have Apple do it automatically. If this is not helpful, then please read thru the article below and come back with more details. 181270 ~ Are you referring to the Lock Screen rather than the Home Screen? ...If so, see:

Under the instructions there for Edit a Lock Screen, there's this:
"...Change the style of the time: Tap Customize, tap the time."
Then, at the bottom of the Lock Screen, tap on the right-hand circle to brighten the date & time:
