Spotify killing Apple Watch battery when streaming

Hi,

Occasionally when I am streaming music via Spotify on a run, the battery on my Apple Watch drops from around 100% to 10% in 20 minutes and the watch crashes. It doesn't happen all the time, but it has happened with more than one pair of earphones.

I have an Apple Watch SE, and have tried removing the Spotify app and reinstalling it, but the same issue crops up.

Has anyone else had the same problem and found a solution? I'm not talking about slightly high battery drainage. This is killing the battery in 20 minutes!

Thanks

Apple Watch SE

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it is a cellular model, and no I don't carry my phone with me. I assume that streaming from Spotify via the watch rather than a phone would be quite battery-intensive, but what I don't understand is why sometimes I can run for 90 minutes while streaming without using up much battery, while other times the battery drops from 100% to 10% and the watch shuts down within 20-25 minutes.
