How can I make new Preview windows open on second display?

I have a second monitor and I want new Preview windows to open on the second monitor, not on my main display. I feel like I used to just drag a currently open window to the second display and then future windows would open on the second display. But not that does not seem to be happening anymore.

I tried this and it did not work. I even quit Preview and made my dock go to the second monitor, opened Preview, and the open file box opens on the second monitor, but when I click on a file to open, it opens on the second monitor. I would attach a screen recording but it will only let me attach images.

Try "Merging All Windows" first, then opening a new one should take care of this problem.

While viewing a window on your secondary monitor...

On your toolbar, select Window

From the dropdown bar, Select Merge All Windows

Then you can open a new window on your secondary monitor.

(This is what worked for me when I did it, just now)
