Suddenly can't open GarageBand on my MacBook Air

Couldn't open garage band suddenly. No permission. "Contact admin"? It's a personal computer! I follow directions to change permissions on the "get info" menu. No dice. It says the app is damaged. To download a new garage band app, I need to update to Ventura. Conspiracy?????? This is the last macbook I will be purchasing.

Hey there bpmangano,

We understand you're having trouble reinstalling the GarageBand app on your MacBook. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

If you're going directly to the app page for GarageBand, you'll be offered the newest app version. You'll want to go to your previous purchases to download the version that is compatible with your MacBook:
