Trackpad drag release time modification

When setting the drag style to "Without Drag Lock" in Pointer Settings under Accessibility on my MacBook Pro 14, the release time is way too long. I am aware that one can click to release it immediately, but that is cumbersome, as is the three finger drag option.

In past questions about this topic it didn't seem like there was any way to configure the release time. Is this possible nowadays? Possibly with a command line input for setting a default?

If it is not possible, why not and when can we expect an option for that?
