My MacBook will not let me create an @iCloud address,

Dear All

I created an Apple ID many years ago when purchasing an iPod, recently I purchased a MacBook and set it up with my Apple ID, which is my email address that I originally set up, Non apple but 3rd party, I still use that email address as its linked to my broadband and TV.

I would like to create an iCloud email address but my MacBook will not let me create an @iCloud address, Any ideas for the community?

Hi joe3400,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Did you get an error message when attempting to set up an iCloud Apple ID email address? If so, check this out: If you see a Could Not Create Apple ID or Could Not Set Up iCloud message

You can try setting up an Apple ID on the iCloud website is you're unable to do so in Settings. The following article will guide. you through doing so: How to create a new Apple ID - Apple Support

Create your Apple ID on the web

1. Go to appleid.apple.com and click Create Your Apple ID.

2. Follow the onscreen steps to provide an email address, create a strong password, and set your device region. The email address that you provide will be your new Apple ID.*

3. Enter a phone number that you can always access.

4. . Check the boxes to subscribe to Apple Updates if you'd like. This keeps you up to date on the latest news, software, products, and services from Apple.

5. Click Continue.

6. Follow the onscreen steps to verify your email address and phone number.

After you verify your email address, you can use your new Apple ID to sign in to the iTunes Store and other Apple services such as iCloud.
