Apple Car Play interrupts Satellite radio

I have used Car Play for a year now. Recently, when listening to Sirius radio, Apple Car Play "interrupts" and turns off the Sirius radio station I was listening to and moves me to Apple Car Play. How do I get this to stop?

Hello Steelers53Barney,

We understand CarPlay is switching to your iPhone as the audio source while you were trying to listen to your SiriusXM radio. We have several steps to suggest going through to help with this.

  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Check for any iOS updates to your iPhone: Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car.
  • Set up CarPlay again: Use CarPlay with your iPhone - Apple Support

Make sure your stereo is running the latest firmware. You'll need to reach out to your vehicle manufacturer for steps to update that if necessary. If the issue still persists, we recommend trying these steps next:

  1. Forget the stereo from Settings > General > CarPlay > [stereo name].
  2. Forget the iPhone from the settings (stereo user guide for instructions).
  3. Rename the iPhone in Settings > General > About > Name.
  4. Reset network settings on the iPhone in Settings > General > Reset. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

Connect your iPhone to your stereo again and test it out. If the issue has not yet resolved at this point, we'd recommend reaching out to our dedicated support teams directly. You can reach them here: Get Support - Apple
