My iPad is very hot. Too hot to touch. It was not in an unusual place. It was in my bedroom charging. I unplugged it and turned it off. What’s going on?

Your iPad has a fault - and requires attention. Ensure that the iPad is disconnected from its Power Adapter and all accessories. If the iPad is switched off, leave it off - and move the iPad to somewhere cool away from all flammable materials. Consider moving the iPad outside keeping the iPad somewhere dry.

When the iPad has cooled, you should take it to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to assess your iPad:
