iPad charging sound

I have an iPad Gen 9. It was bought a few months ago. About 10% of the time when I plug it in to charge I hear 2 chimes instead of a singular chime which is normal. However, it always fully charges even when I hear the double chime. I've changed cables and chargers with the same results. I never hear more than 2 chimes. Is this anything to be concerned about?

The behaviour that you describe is usually associated with the Power Adapter itself.

USB-C Power Adapters that support USB PD (Power Delivery) go through an active cycle of negotiating a “power profile” for device charging upon connection; this can sometimes cause the Power Adapter to momentarily cease providing power - before switching to a different power profile. This can manifest as multiple audible chimes from the iPad - as the iPad will chime each time it receives adequate power.

If your iPad is charging normally, there is no reason to be concerned. Each chime merely indicates that adequate power is being received to charge the iPad.

However, if the Power Adapter becomes unstable, you may hear continuous chimes - this being indicative of a Power Adapter, or USB-C charging cable, that requires replacement.
