Shift key and Drag and drop with mouse

I've found at times my Shift key when I want to select something and my mouse when I drag and drop disconnect.

I don't use an external keyboard.

I use MX Master 2S

This problem is so annoying. I need this to be fixed as soon as possible.

Hello shirazigs,

Does the issue happen at other times as well, or only when trying to drag and drop content? That information will help us plan how to proceed.

Please check out the information in the following link to ensure the correct process is being used to drag and drop items on your Mac, so we can make sure there any aren't issues there: Drag and drop items on Mac

Drag and drop items on Mac

You can drag and drop items to do things like move or copy files and folders, add an image to an email, or move text around in a document.

1. On your Mac, select an item you want to drag—such as an image or block of text.
2. Press and hold the trackpad or mouse while you drag the item to a new location.
To copy the item instead of moving it, press and hold the Option key while you drag.
3. Release the trackpad or mouse to drop the item in the new location.

Thanks!

Hey Mario49, thanks for help

Have you tried using a different mouse?

Not yet. But I will try my Magic Mouse and let you know.

Does this happen if you use the internal trackpad?

I usaully use my track pad to zoom in and zoom out and scrolling pages.

If I want to select a text with shift key and arrow keys, that disconnection happens, but not always.

Have you tried the mouse on a different computer?

I haven't.

Hi Brittany,

About me: I have worked with Apple computers for over 15 years. I'm 44 years old, and I know very well MacOS and Windows.

This problem happens a few times a day.

If I'm duplicating something by drag and drop, it happens in the middle of the way to drop that file elsewhere.

If I want to select a text with the Shift key + left or right arrow keys, it selects a few letters and then deselects.

It seems something disconnects and connects.

I've found a video on the internet. It shows the same problem I have with MX Master 2S.
