How long will Apple give updates iOS to iPhone 11? Just went to buy one the guy said support ends next year doesn’t seem right ?

Apple generally supports iPhone models for six years. With iPhone 11 (2019), you should receive updates until the end of 2025.

In addition to the excellent information above, Apple also continues to provide security updates for quite a while. iOS 12.5.7, which supports the iPhone6/6+ was released in January of this year. Also, depending on what you use your phone for, it may be good for years. Eventually, you will find it hard to download apps for older operating systems (right now, iOS 13.4 is the cutoff for a lot of apps) but, the built-in apps will continue to function.

We don’t know.

Typical hardware support is five to sometimes seven years, as this can be required in some jurisdictions.

Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty - Apple Support

At seven years, products are considered obsolete by Apple.

For software and app support, iPhone 6s (2014) and iPhone 7 (2016) have dropped off current iOS support with the release of iOS 16 (Sept 2022), though iOS 15 and those devices are still getting security patches.

iPhone 6 (2014) dropped off support at iOS 13, and folks are only recently hitting app issues and limitations with iOS 13 (currently iOS 12.5.7).

You may be headed for a battery replacement with an iPhone 11; that battery replacement would be the most likely service requirement here.
