iCloud integration with NAS

I have seen lots of questions from people wanting to use their own NAS instead of iCloud for the likes of iPhotos etc.

This doesn’t appear to be possible.

Will Apple ever consider NAS integration, perhaps for a monthly fee, that would allow you to keep your data on your own drives but still behave seamlessly like iCloud currently does.

Basically, to use iCloud but host your own data instead of apple servers hosting it.

This could be beneficial in terms of security, cost and maximum storage available.
