spam mail??

i noticed the last couple of updates has a couple of new additions - block and unsubscribe.

when i 'block' a spam email, it keeps returning with the red circle with a slash mark in regular mail box as well as trash and junk.

what is the point of 'block' if they keep returning?

Greetings slrc47,

Your message is posted in a community for the iCloud website, so we’re going to provide information based on changes you can make from the website, as opposed to a device. If instead you’re using a device to access your email, let us know which one.

You mentioned attempting to block emails, that isn’t something you can do from the iCloud website. You can report an email as junk and move it to the junk folder. We’ll include some steps below on how to do that. However, on the iCloud website you can set up a rule to filter emails from a sender to a specific place. We’re also including a link below on how to do that.

Manage junk mail in Mail on iCloud.com

Mark an email as junk
1. In Mail on iCloud.com, locate the message list and select the message or messages you want to mark as junk.
2. Do one of the following:
If you selected one message: Click the arrow, then click Move to Junk.
If you selected multiple messages: Click Mark, then click “Move to Junk.”
Subsequent messages from the same sender are automatically marked as junk.

Report and reduce spam in iCloud Mail

Reduce future spam
To help reduce the amount of spam you receive in the future, you can use the techniques below.

Don't open suspected junk email
Delete any messages that look like junk mail before you open them. Learn how to delete emails on your iPhone or iPad and how to delete emails on your Mac. You can also manage junk mail on iCloud.com.

When you open an email that looks like junk mail, it can alert spammers that their message was received and opened from an active email account.

Adjust your Mail Privacy Protection settings
Spammers use the email image-loading feature to determine whether your email account is active. Here's how to keep images from loading automatically:
On iCloud.com
1. Go to iCloud.com/mail.
2. Click the Settings button in the sidebar.
3. Choose Preferences.
4. Click General, then turn off "Load remote content in messages."
5. Click Done.

Set up rules to filter email in Mail on iCloud.com

Set up rules to filter email
1. In Mail on iCloud.com, click the Settings gear at the top of the Mailboxes list, then choose Preferences.
2. Click Rules, then click “Add rule.”
3. Below “If a message,” use the pop-up menu and text field to specify the type of messages you want to filter.
4. Below Then, use the pop-up menus or fields to specify an action for the rule.
5. Click Add.
You can have up to 500 rules.
Important: If you apply rules to a folder and then delete the folder or change its name, make sure to update the rules for those folders accordingly. For example, you can’t forward messages to a deleted folder.

Thanks.
