Installation of Adobe Reader is stuck on Running package scripts. It won’t quit, says “the installer is busy” (ha). What to do?

Thank you, Yer_Man. I actually tried that shortly after my post and it worked.
When you check Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for updates and you get an update confirmation panel, quit Reader and proceed with the update which is independent of the main application.
