Keynote Template Objects - how to reposition without editing slide layout

I have created a template with shapes in it and what I want to happen is when I use a particular slide with objects, I should be able to reposition these objects without having to edit the slide layout.

Is this possible and I how do I do it? THanks in advance.

Shapes placed in a Slide Layout can not be moved in the presentation slide.

However you can use this workaround:

go to the Slide Layout for that slide

select the shape

go to: Format > Advanced > Define as text placeholder

exit from Slide Layout by clicking the blue Done button

All slides using that amended Slide Layout will allow repositioning of that shape.

If you do not want other slides to be able to move that shape, you will need to use a different slide layout without that shape.
