bird process is writing and reading enormous amounts of data daily

Hi everyone,

I have a Mac Book Pro Retina 15" Early 2015 with macOS Monterey having an issue for a while. I received a notification that the disk space is full and I was not able to write new files.

Then I open the storage details (from about this Mac>storage), it shows me there is 16 GB free, but it keeps on decreasing with a very fast rate.

I opened the Activity monitor and I noticed that there is a process called "bird" that is reading and writing to disk with enormous amounts.

The rate at which it writes bytes is almost the same as the rate the total storage is decreasing.

the weird thing is that each time I close and open the storage details window(from about this Mac>storage), It shows me the remaining storage is 16GBs and it starts to decrease again.

While the SSD reads and writes are very significant, the network usage seems normal so it doesn't seem that my computer is reading and writing of the internet all the time.

Any ideas???

Hey AmrKandil,

Does this happen in safe mode and a test user account? Testing in these situations can help to narrow down the issue. Here's more information on safe mode, how to start there, and how to test: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

If the behavior wasn't resolved using safe mode, create a test user account with administrator privileges to see if it happens there too. This will let us know if the issue is system-wide or only within your user account. After creating the new account, be sure to sign out of your current account before signing in to the test account. Here's how to create that user account, just in case: Add a user or group on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know how it goes.

Take care!
