Apple Music auto play work around.

I have an iPhone 14 pro. Today an Apple tech told me that unless you subscribe to Apple Music, you do not have an option to turn auto play on or off. I do not have a paid subscription, and I can not turn auto play off. Has anyone found a workaround for this issue?
