iPad iPhone SERVER SHORTCUT Can this be done?

Using the file app I have successfully connected to my home server and use this to download or upload files when needed. When connected I can drag a server folder into favourites as a shortcut, but as soon as the server disconnects, the link disappears. I have used various methods including the shortcut and bookmarks app to try and create a shortcut to my server, but without success. This can be done to an iCloud folder but not a personal home server. I have done one shortcut and it does take me to the server folder but it only takes you to a cached folder, a particular folder or file that I previously looked at on the server. Whereas I would like to create a link to a specific folder on the server that is saved and when used takes the user directly to that specific folder. Is this possible?

Hello datadezign,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. You can use the Files app to access files stored on file servers. Just to be sure, here are the steps:

Connect to a computer or file server
1. Tap the More button at the top of the Browse screen.
2. If you don’t see the More button, tap Browse again.
3. Tap Connect to Server.
4. Enter a local hostname or a network address, then tap Connect.
5. Tip: After you connect to a computer or file server, it appears in the Recent Servers list on the Connect to Server screen. To connect to a recent server, tap its name.
6. Select how you want to connect:
* Guest: You can connect as a Guest user if the shared computer permits guest access.
* Registered User: If you select Registered User, enter your user name and password.
9. Tap Next, then select the server volume or shared folder in the Browse screen (under Shared).
To disconnect from the file server, tap the Eject button next to the server in the Browse screen.
For information on how to set up your Mac to share files, see Set up file sharing on Mac in the macOS User Guide.

This is the supported method that's available to connect to a file server and is outlined in this helpful article: Connect servers or external devices with Files on iPhone - Apple Support

Kind regards.
