Junk Mail not showing

Please note I am not a technical person, and for the last 15 years I have had no problems whatsoever with any apple devices.


a few weeks ago whilst looking for an email I checked by junk file on the iPad and noticed that my junk file was empty… which was unusual. So I checked my phone and it had the usual junk.


few days later, my phone junk had also gone. The file is there but it is empty. I know I get junk mail as can see it on the home computer, but I am not always home.


if I have done something it has been by mistake, I don’t normally touch and or change anything I don’t understand.


I need help so my junk mail is visible again.

That is a strange thing to occur on both of your portable devices, and we'd like to help however we can. Let's begin with ruling out some possible causes, along with confirming more details to better understand what's happening:


  1. You mentioned this began a few weeks ago, but is the junk email still showing at this time within the Junk folder on your Mac?
  2. Do you recall changing any settings or doing anything like that right before this began to occur on both your iPad and iPhone?
  3. Do all three devices have the same exact email accounts set up within Mail, or does your Mac have other email accounts set up that are not set up on your portable devices?
  4. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone and Restart your iPad
  5. If you're using compatible models, the latest version for your iPhone/iPad is iOS/iPadOS 16.3.1. You can verify this within each device under Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
