My AirPods 3rd generation doesn’t detect ear sometimes, what might be the problem?
What might be the issue of AirPods (3rd generation)not detecting ears sometimes

Seen the same, try and “forget device” then try and repair to see if that resolves issue.
If it doesn’t try pair AirPods to another idevice and see if it has the same issue.
If it does it’s probably time to take AirPods to Apple Store and ask to see Genius, they will check for free and replace if still under warranty.
