Clock color on lock screen keeps changing

On my i-phone 11 I changed my wallpaper and clock color, yet when I press "Done" the wallpaper stays the same, but the clock changes color where I can barely see it. Doesn't matter that I change it to black, once I select done, it changes to something almost invisible.

Spence ~ It sounds like you haven't changed the default Opaque setting to Solid for the clock text. See:

Personalize your iPhone Lock Screen - Apple Support

Under the instructions there for Edit a Lock Screen, there's this:

"...Change the style of the time: Tap Customize, tap the time."

Then, at the bottom of the Lock Screen, tap on the right-hand circle to make the date & time a solid colour instead of opaque:

Spence ~ In your screenshot, the first button at lower left has a blue outline, signifying it is the currently selected 'color'. That particular button makes the clock text opaque – and thus the clock text color will change as the background changes.

The other buttons to the right, if you select one of them, make the clock text solid – and thus the clock text color will NOT change as the background changes.

...However, if that's not how it's working for you, perhaps you're hitting a bug in the software.

By the way, my screenshot has only two buttons because my wallpaper is Apple's new 'Live Weather':
