how do i change the color of the clock and batery level so i can actually read them?

iOS 18.7.1

Can someone tell me how to change the color of the clock and battery info at the top of the phone home screen?

They are basically the same color as the background and almost impossible to read as shown in the attached screenshot.

I don't want to change my background, I just want to change all that text at the top to a contrasting color so that I can ever read any of it.

You really can't change the color of the text. It's baked into iOS and is not user adjustable. So either struggle with using a light colored wallpaper, or choose one which makes reading the time and other status indicators at the top legible.
