So I have gone down the rabbit hole to figure this out. I am at a road block. This afternoon I had my wallpaper set to one image I took two years ago. Now this evening 6 hours later it has changed to Cartoon Eyes. My partner wasn't home during that time. There was no one else home to change it. nor does anyone have my finger print. Is it possible my MacBook has been hacked?

It is unrealistic to think someone would hack to change your wallpaper. Forget this as a possibility.
A SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies by clearing system caches etc.
Then reboot as normal and compare your results.
