I cannot find a way to remove the do not disturb notification from the centre of my lock screen when it's turned on (I have it turned on at all times). I can only seem to replace it with focus, which I also do not want to do. How do I remove it from the lock screen while keeping do not disturb enabled?

This does not happen in iOS 16.3.1 on my device. You have not mentioned the iOS version that your device is on. The Crescent moon indicates DND but I can only see it at the bottom of the locked screen or in the Control Center and not as shown in the pic posted by you. Please see the pic below.

Thank you for confirming - unfortunately my device is nearing end of life and ios 16 is not supported. Unfortunate as it may be a small symbol but it being very front and centre is irritating.

Unfortunately, it cannot be removed. If you have an iPhone 8 or later, you can update to iOS 16 (16.3.1), the icon is a little less disturbing on the lock screen.
You're welcome. Okay, so there's not much to do. Then you can look forward to a less eye-catching Do Not Disturb icon on your (maybe) next iPhone.
